Humankind started farming in the Nile valley over 10,000 years ago. Our ancestors watched the rhythms of the heavens, and made connections between the patterns in the night-sky and the effects of the moon, planets, and stars on their bodies, the oceans, and on their gardens.
Over the centuries as farming spread, they determined the best times to plant and harvest their crops, as well as for animal husbandry, beekeeping, and timber felling. This knowledge was handed down through the generations in oral and written tradition.
With the development of chemical fertilisers in the 20th century, these principles were largely forgotten or ignored; Rudolf Steiner helped to revive and consolidate some of these Lunar Gardening traditions by developing his Biodynamic farming techniques.

Thank you for my Lunar Organics garden calendar. It is clear and easy to understand. Just one question: when is it the best time to collect all the willow tree leaves that have blown onto my patio to make leaf mould. I wondered is it a leaf day or a root (earth) day and a descending moon? The little booklet with my calendar is lovely, and very helpful. Thank you. P Adams

Hi could you let me know when the full.moon is after the new moon on 16th October, before the next new moon on 15th November.
Your 2020 calender seems to be missing a full moon date and time. I’m wondering if October has 2 full moons or if its November.
Thank you

I have been gardening by the moon for a few year and had reasonable success. The guru I followed did not regard the waxing and waning cycle. You do. Fine but having just purchased your calendar, I find it impossible to get all the right requirements together on any one day particularly the root crops. I am pulling my hair out. The waning moon does not fall on any brown day during the descending mode throughout the whole of March and April. Normally, I plant most of my beetroots, Spring onions and carrots during March to April. Could you advise me please?
